Pastures Way Nursery School is a small school maintained by Luton Council with children aged 5 years and under.
We are passionate about providing the best education through a child centered curriculum. We are an inclusive school and teach children from a range of different backgrounds, including those with special educational needs and English as an Additional Language.

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and motivated Early Years Worker to work with children aged 5 years and under. They will be expected to support children’s learning both in inside and outside classrooms and undertake key working, including tracking children and identifying next steps.

The successful applicant will work as part of a team in the nursery where you will undertake a range of duties such as:
Provide support in the setting by interacting with children, or carrying out other duties as specified by the class teacher or team leader.
Provide support to individual children as directed by the class teacher or team leader.
Assist in preparations for teaching and learning, helping to set out and clear away activities and equipment, putting up displays, organizing resources such as mixing paints, cutting paper, sorting toys, tidying the home corner, helping to maintain the order and cleanliness of the learning environment both indoors and outside.
Assist in the care and supervision of children in the indoor environment and the playground and take part in the children’s daily routine, including mealtimes and nappy changing.
Provide feedback to teaching and other staff on children’s daily routines and progress
Be part of a team that prioritizes safeguarding and understand that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
Accompany staff on school outings, assisting in the supervision of children.
Accompany staff on home visits if and when required.
Be willing to learn about children’s development stages, progress and how to best support their learning.
Assist with periodic activities that have been arranged for the children e.g. when animals are brought to school.
Understanding of confidentiality in schools.

Candidates will need to hold a level 1 or equivalent in English and maths. Ideally GCSE grades A* - C in English and Maths or equivalent.
On successful completion of your Apprenticeship Level 2 programme you will have the skills and experience to make your next career step or possible employment in our Nursery School following completion of the Level 3.
This is a term time only role (38 weeks plus 5 days training). It is expected that the post holder will take annual leave during the school holidays which are 2 weeks at Christmas, 2 weeks at Easter and 6 weeks in August.
The role may involve lifting of children and equipment. There may also be the requirement to clear up after a pupil has been ill or had a spillage/toileting accident.
