About the job
£91.25 for the first 6 hours plus £15.21 per extra hour for overnight count on 2nd May 2019
Would you like to work at the heart of the democratic process participating in the counting off the votes for the Local Government election? If yes then this is the role for you!
The role involves counting and sorting of ballot papers for candidates standing for election. The counting of the votes can take place overnight and into the early hours of the morning. The length of time a Count takes will depend on the size and nature of the election and whether re-counts are required. You must have stamina to remain focused and concentrate during all stages of the process, remaining seated for prolonged periods with minimal breaks.
Please note that this application is to join our Talent Pool of Count Assistants ready for the next Election which is scheduled for 2nd May 2019.
On completion of an application you'll be invited in to undertake a short test to help you understand the role. Those who successfully pass this test will be invited to apply for the next election.
Opportunities exist for people with excellent numeracy and dexterity skills, who are able to follow instructions, pay attention to detail and work quickly and accurately under pressure. You must be able to remain politically neutral.
Due to the start time of the count it will not be possible to work as part of the count and as a Poll Clerk or Presiding Officer during the election.
Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to converse fluently in spoken English. Counting skills will be tested and only those candidates who pass the test will be considered for the role.
