About the job


Salary:
£8.33 per hour (minimum 4 hours) for a daytime count.
£14.58 per hour (minimum 4 hours) for an overnight count

Would you like to work at the heart of the democratic process participating in the counting off the votes for Parliamentary, Local Government and other elections and referenda. If yes then this is the role for you!

The role involves counting and sorting of ballot papers for candidates standing for election. The counting of the votes can take place overnight and into the early hours of the morning. The length of time a Count takes will depend on the size and nature of the election and whether re-counts are required. You must have stamina to remain focused and concentrate during all stages of the process, remaining seated for prolonged periods with minimal breaks.

About you


Opportunities exist for people with excellent numeracy and dexterity skills, who are able to follow instructions, pay attention to detail and work quickly and accurately under pressure. You must be able to remain politically neutral.



Additional information


Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to converse fluently in spoken English. Counting skills will be tested and only those candidates who pass the test will be considered for the role.
