Salary: £31, 371 - £33,799 a year, plus £963 Essential Car User allowance, £78 washing allowance and shift allowance

We have an exciting career opportunity to join our Neighbourhood Enforcement Service as a Team Leader – managing our operational responses to a range of issues including environmental crime, anti-social behaviour and the priority issues that affect our residents.

You will be instrumental in leading & deploying our front-line, visible and uniformed team to deliver robust and effective enforcement solutions to the issues that really matter in Luton.

You will also be the council’s specialist advisor for all tactical neighbourhood enforcement matters and will work with the Police and other key partners on innovative operations to drive down crime and anti-social behaviour.

You will be part of a function that deploys a range of powers and actions to take enforcement in respect of environmental crime and anti social behaviour.

This includes using a range of powers such as fixed penalty notices and community protection notices to address the following and similar issues

Street drinking and begging
Fly tipping, littering and domestic waste offences
Graffiti and flyposting
Dog fouling
Waste deposits on land
Low level anti social behaviour



About you


This is a public facing role so you will need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English.

We are looking for someone who has supervisory management experience including performance management and experience of working within an enforcement role of similar.

You will need to have the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of people both within and external to the council including dealing with professionals and agencies and exercising political sensitivity.

The role requires strong evaluation and decision making skills to apply your existing knowledge of relevant legislation including environmental crime and anti social behaviour, investigation processes, evidence gathering and data protection.

You will be required to obtain community safety accreditation within 6 months of appointment for which training is provided.
