The Luton Music Service is developing a local response to the needs of Luton pupils and their wider communities, on this basis we are currently seeking a new addition to the team.
The “Peripatetic Music Tutor – Violin/Viola” will teach violin and viola, as agreed with the Music Service Manager and the Operations Manager, to children between Year 3 and Year 13, and to guide each pupil to develop to the full their musical skills and technical proficiency.
You will encourage each pupil to gain enjoyment from their music making both through their acquisition of technical skills and through their experience of music making. To foster the self-discipline and social skills necessitated by the practice of music making.
This is a permanent vacancy requiring the successful candidate to encourage each pupil to gain enjoyment through their experience of music making; to foster self-discipline and social skills, to enrich the education of each pupil through appropriate musical experiences and provide skills that will stay with them throughout their school years and beyond.
This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show your fluency in speaking and writing English.
To be successful in this role, you should have demonstrable experience of teaching violin and viola effectively and the ability to maintain accurate records and manage time within agreed boundaries.
Excellent communication skills are vital for this role, as you’ll need to communicate with pupils, parents and staff; and advise pupils and school music departments.
We are looking for someone who has the ability to maintain accurate records and manage time within agreed boundaries and to perform at post grade 8 level. Demonstrable knowledge of instrumental technique and repertoire.
We do ask that you are able to evidence safeguarding training, have a commitment to professional development and a relevant professional qualification or evidence of successful teaching.
