We have a highly rewarding opportunity as a Rehabilitation Officer (Visual Impairment) working with some of the most vulnerable and challenging service users with a focus on promoting their independence and confidence.

In this vital role, you will be receiving and coordinating referrals for adults and children, completing holistic assessments and devising programmes of rehabilitation within people’s homes and their community. You will deliver training and provide specialist advice in areas such as orientation and mobility, independent living and communication skills.

You will be joining a highly motivated and supportive team delivering Sensory Services across our diverse town.

About you

You will need proven experience in the rehabilitation of visually impaired, dual sensory and deafblind people.

Your experience working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team will be essential in ensuring you meet the needs of service users, their families and carers, as well as all internal and external professionals.

Our ideal candidate will have a strength based approach and be creative and innovative, adopting new technologies and implementing change.

Applicants for this public-facing post will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, maintain high quality records and write clear, concise reports.

It is essential that you have a Dip HE in Rehabilitation studies or degree (lasting at least 2 years full time or equivalent if completed part time, or if qualifying prior to the 2 year course, at least 3 years professional work experience with this customer group).
