Salary: £28,221 - £30,756 a year plus £4,500 market supplement and £963 essential car user allowance

Day-to-day, you’ll be involved with assessments, care planning and child protection whilst aiming to prevent the separation of children from their families, promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and helping them to reach their full potential. You will carry a workload requiring exemplary practice in situations of high complexity, exercising a degree of autonomy.
As part of this, you’ll prioritise the most vulnerable or at-risk individuals, and give specialist advice for next steps. Where necessary, you’ll also make sure contacts are handed over to the relevant services in a swift, efficient way.
You will be responsible for making sure service users and carers take an active role in timely assessments, support plans and review processes which comply with Luton Council’s policies and procedures.

You’re experience will mean you’re able to make strong professional judgements, and then articulate your decisions in a clear, concise way. Your ability to manage complex child protection and statutory case work will be excellent and you’ll have a flare for negotiation and influencing. Proactive and collaborative, you’ll build positive relationships with those around you – helping carers provide the very best service.

You’ll need a relevant degree (or equivalent), substantial experience of children and families social work. This is a chance to work alongside experts in their field and help the most vulnerable realise their full potential.
