We’re striving to improve here at Luton and are at an exciting point in our journey. We’re looking for Social Workers to join us in our Looked After Children Teams. There are 2 Teams of 8 Social Workers, a DTM and Team Manager for each.
You’ll manage a variety of cases (18 -20) which include asylum seeking children, young children and teenagers. Working closely with the Placement teams you’ll make sure children are placed in the most appropriate environment and review care plans where necessary to return children and young people to the family home when possible.
You’ll carry out virtual statutory home visits and complete care plans which are reviewed regularly. You will receive support and regular supervision, appraisals and a tailor made development programme.
Luton is a challenging yet unique environment that is bursting with opportunity. We’ve already made some exciting changes to our work practices and are able to support you in remote working during the pandemic with up to date IT equipment to enable you to work flexibly.
As a Council, we have set a bold ambition to ensure that no-one is living in poverty by 2040. We know that 90% of children’s social care cases are linked to the challenges that people living in poverty face, so this role is critical in helping us to reach our corporate goal. Join is in helping our Children’s Services get to good or outstanding, and leave a lasting impact on the children of Luton.
Join us and help us “realise the remarkable” every day.
