What You’ll be doing

You’ll lead the development and delivery of sector-focused growth programmes that support business growth, inward investment and inclusive economic opportunities across Luton. Working closely with partners, you’ll turn the Economic Growth Strategy into practical programmes, investment propositions and measurable outcomes.

As a senior sector lead, you’ll build strong relationships with businesses, investors and public, private and academic partners. You’ll identify opportunities, attract investment, support business growth and scaling, strengthen supply chains and help create high-quality jobs and opportunities for local residents.

You’ll lead projects and partnerships from concept through to delivery, securing funding, managing budgets and using economic and market intelligence to inform decisions. You’ll also champion inclusive growth, ensuring Luton’s businesses and communities benefit from the town’s economic opportunities.

What we’re looking for

You’ll have substantial recent experience in economic development, inward investment, business growth or regeneration, ideally with experience of leading sector-based growth programmes and delivering measurable outcomes.

You’ll be commercially aware and confident developing investment propositions, funding bids, business cases and programmes. You’ll have strong analytical, project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn strategic priorities into practical action.

You’ll be a proactive and influential relationship-builder who can engage senior stakeholders, businesses and partners to achieve shared outcomes. You’ll be highly organised, comfortable working autonomously and able to manage competing priorities, with a strong understanding of inclusive economic growth, inequality and place-based development.
