What You’ll be doing

Luton Borough Council is looking for a Data, Accuracy and Reconciliation Officer to help ensure the accuracy, integrity and security of data held across the Council’s People systems.

The role will lead on data cleansing, reconciliation and validation activities, identifying and resolving errors and anomalies while working closely with People, Payroll, Finance and Digital, Data and Technology colleagues to maintain accurate records and organisational structures.

The postholder will produce regular and ad-hoc management reports, including key performance information, and support data analysis, audits and information requests. The role will also work with colleagues to develop and improve People systems, test software updates and support system training and queries.

Ensuring compliance with data protection and wider data management requirements will be a key part of the role, alongside providing specialist administrative support to People projects and service improvements.

What we’re looking for

You will have experience working in an HR environment, with a strong understanding of managing and analysing data, systems and administrative processes. Experience of working with HR systems and in an IT or data-focused environment would be an advantage.

You will be highly organised and methodical, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to interrogate, manipulate and interpret People data to identify issues and produce accurate reports. Advanced Excel and Word skills are essential, alongside an interest in technology and digitalisation.

You will be a confident communicator, able to provide advice and straightforward training to colleagues at all levels, work independently and contribute effectively as part of a team. An understanding of HR terminology, GDPR, data protection and security requirements is important, as is an understanding of equality considerations within business solutions.

Knowledge of Business Objects or Power BI and relevant HR systems would be desirable, although a willingness to learn will be considered. A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in data science, mathematics, computer science, economics or business information systems is required, along with the ability to travel to sites across the borough.

Our ambitious Luton 2040 Vision – that no-one in Luton will have to live in poverty – is at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that our people are remarkable, talented, committed and passionate about serving our residents.

The people of Luton depend heavily on this council – and that means our workforce! Are you ready to realise the remarkable and help us deliver our vision?
