Thank you for your interest in becoming the new Service Director for Policy, Communities & Engagement at Luton Council.
This is an exciting time for Luton; a chance to drive development and make a real difference to our future.
As a Council, we have everything we need to support our residents to flourish, although there are still several challenges that we need to address to ensure Luton’s people continue to be placed at the
heart of everything we do.
One of our biggest challenges as a town and borough is the level of
residents living in poverty, which currently affects 40% of our people in four wards alone. To address this, we have recently defined one key corporate mission, which is our bold ambition to eradicate poverty by 2040.
We seek a talented Service Director to provide critical strategic direction and continually boost performance across the Council’s Policy, Communities & Engagement functions, including Strategic Community Services; Democracy and Electoral Services; Business and Member Support; Communications and Marketing; Prevent; and our Luton 2040 agenda.
An experienced senior leader with a proven track record in the public sector, you will draw on your extensive local and national networks to build stronger pathways for effective community engagement and reposition our Council’s brand in the drive towards our anti-poverty agenda.
With a strong understanding of the democratic landscape and an ability to support Members, you will build solid relationships with political leaders and key stakeholders, whilst shaping robust policies to address prime challenges and opportunities across the borough.
Resident engagement is vital to our future and you must therefore possess a strong ability to connect, enthuse and collaborate with our diverse range of communities, taking the lead on the Council’s response to the Prevent agenda and ensuring that Luton truly protects its people.
Ready to realise the remarkable? If you have the vision, enthusiasm and experience to make a lasting difference, we want to hear from you. Together, let’s make everyone feel at home in Luton.
